About the Role

McGard, a leading company in the automotive industry, is seeking a highly talented and motivated Quality Assurance Lead to join our dynamic team and contribute to our ongoing success.

Responsibilities

  • Leads the Quality Assurance Technicians through coaching and delegation with direction from the Quality Assurance Manager.
  • Interfaces directly with management, Engineering, manufacturing, and floor personnel, along with vendors regarding quality related issues.
  • Assist in the preparation of Customer audits.
  • Records test data and applies statistical quality control procedures.
  • Prepares graphs or charts of data or enters data into computer for analysis.
  • Evaluates data and writes reports to validate or indicate deviations from existing standards.
  • Interprets engineering drawings, schematic diagrams, or formulas to arrive at specified quality and reliability standards.
  • Selects products for tests at specified stages in production process, and tests products for variety of qualities such as dimensions, performance, and mechanical, electrical, or chemical characteristics.
  • Suggests modifications or existing quality or production standards to receive optimum quality within limits of equipment capability.
  • Provide leadership and direction of QA Techs with a positive attitude.
  • Delegate tasks to QA Techs to keep the department effective.
  • Analyzes McGard and LDM quality concerns and suggests improvement solutions.
  • Provides training and coaching for entry level QA Techs.
  • Interacts with suppliers on quality issues.
  • Provides decisions on acceptance of product for McGard/LDM while QA Manager is out of the office.
  • Navigates, generates, and develops questions for the LPA software system.
  • Provides backup to QA Tech duties if needed.
  • Provides gage training for new employees.
  • Develops new quality Work Instructions where needed.
  • Quality representative that interacts with Engineering on P.O. Requirements at the Skid One process.
  • Develops the incoming inspection sheet off the P.O. Requirement.
  • Provides backup to Fowler troubleshooting and part programming.
  • Provides backup to Smart Scope troubleshooting and part programming.
  • Provides backup to SPC Datalyzer Program.
  • Initiates and verifies effectiveness of CAR’s / NCMR’s.
  • Assists in the preparation and involvement for IATF 16949 / ISO 17025 / ISO 9001 audits along with any customer audits throughout the year.
  • Assists QA Manager in input for performance reviews.
  • Supports a continual improvement philosophy for the company and QA.
  • Coordinates annual round robin testing for the ISO / IEC 17025 QA Lab.
  • Approves QA ISO 17025 lab reports.

Requirements

  • Ability to communicate effectively in English, both written and orally.
  • Maintains a positive work atmosphere by behaving and communicating in a manner that gets along with customers, vendors, co-workers, and Supervisors.

  • Works as a team player, helping to meet departmental and Company goals and objectives.

  • Position requires individual to be capable of traveling and working throughout the entire facility, within reasonable accommodation.

Skills

  • Knowledge of statistical analysis, precision measurement and industrial practices.
  • May specialize in any of the following areas of Quality Control: Process and Inventory Control, Incoming Material, Design, Product Evaluation, and Product Reliability.
  • Should be involved with various seminars/meetings by local Quality related organizations to keep abreast of new quality technology.

  • Onsite

Work Type

  • 1st Shift – 6:30am-3:00pm, Monday-Friday
  • Ability to work overtime during the week and Saturdays

Experience Level

  • Three (3) years of relevant experience (with Associate's degree)
  • Five (5) years of relevant experience (with High School Diploma/GED)

Education Level

  • Two (2) year Associate’s degree (technical degree)
  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
  • ASQ Certified Quality Technician preferred

Salary/Compensations

  • $27.00 - $36.00/hour
