About the Role
Support individuals facing challenges around mental health, substance use, housing, or domestic abuse by delivering structured group interventions and recovery-focused support. This role is an opportunity to build meaningful relationships and create lasting change.
Responsibilities
- Work as part of a multi-disciplinary team to deliver structured group interventions and recovery-focused support.
- Support service users across all stages of recovery, from engagement and assessment through to sustained recovery.
- Deliver high-quality, evidence-based interventions that improve outcomes, increase engagement, and support individuals to build recovery capital.
- Develop, coordinate, and deliver a range of structured and open-access recovery groups.
- Deliver psychosocial group interventions using recognised approaches (e.g., Motivational Interviewing, CBT-informed practice, ITEP, MET).
- Lead the delivery of the Freedom Programme, ensuring fidelity to the model and delivering sessions in a safe, trauma-informed manner.
- Complete and maintain required Freedom Programme facilitator training and ongoing competency standards.
- Proactively identify and assess service users suitable for group interventions.
- Manage a caseload of service users, reviewing ongoing care, engagement, and treatment outcomes.
- Carry out triage, strengths-based assessments, and risk assessments.
- Contribute to the development, implementation, and review of individual recovery plans.
- Ensure individuals are matched to appropriate group programmes based on need, risk, and readiness for change.
- Deliver a varied programme of group work addressing underlying issues including substance misuse, trauma, resilience, relationships, and behavioural change.
- Promote, advertise, and encourage engagement in group work within the service.
- Support service users to access external services, resources, and opportunities to build recovery capital.
Requirements
- NVQ Level 3 in Health & Social Care (or equivalent)
- Experience working within substance misuse or related services
- Knowledge of recovery models and harm reduction approaches
- Experience delivering structured group interventions
- Experience completing assessments, risk assessments, and recovery planning
- Understanding of safeguarding, confidentiality, and professional boundaries
- Experience of multi-agency working and partnership collaboration
- Knowledge of best practice frameworks (e.g., NICE guidance)
- Strong communication and group facilitation skills
- Ability to engage, motivate, and retain service users
- Ability to manage workload and prioritise effectively
