About the Role
SOM’s Year One program picks up where formal education leaves off, offering events and creative initiatives to help emerging designers succeed in their first year. This role encourages expanding learning, proposing bold ideas, and contributing to the future of design within a collaborative, interdisciplinary, and global organization.
Responsibilities
- Contributes to project development under direct supervision, exhibiting initiative, process innovation, problem-solving, and decision quality with high attention to precision and accuracy.
- Produces presentation and contract deliverables including diagrams, 3D models, drawings, renderings, physical models, and animations.
- Communicates effectively internally through timely and appropriate written, oral, and visual means.
- Creates and innovates with strong conceptual design ability, integrating interdisciplinary criteria to advance project components.
- Collaborates at a project team level by critically and constructively evaluating ideas.
- Demonstrates a basic understanding of building materials, systems, specifications, codes, details, and construction techniques.
- Effectively uses appropriate tools to design and document at all project phases.
- Manages time and workload to meet project deadlines with frequent interaction and direction from Project Leadership.
