About the Role
As a Veterinary Care Assistant (VCA), you will support the nursing and veterinary staff with in-patient procedures and pet care, delivering exceptional care to clients, patients, and colleagues. This role is vital in ensuring patients receive outstanding care and the clinic operates smoothly.
Responsibilities
- Handle and restrain animals safely for exams and treatments
- Feed, exercise, and groom hospitalized patients
- Maintain clinic hygiene by sanitizing consultation rooms, kennels, and surgical equipment
- Assist nurses with surgical prep, instrument sterilization, and monitoring inpatient vitals
- Greet clients and provide compassionate support
- Assist reception during busy periods
- Deliver exceptional care to clients, supporting surgeries and procedures, complying with all regulatory, practice and operational standards
- Deliver patient monitoring and care to pets, including walking, toileting and feeding
- Work collaboratively within a supportive team
Requirements
- Previous animal handling experience in a veterinary or shelter setting is preferred
- Strong communication skills
