About the Role
This role is responsible for leading the development of competitive, commercially robust pricing solutions that align with customer requirements and business objectives. The position involves complex financial modelling, pricing strategies, and business case development, ensuring accurate cost, margin, and risk analysis. The Senior Commercial Pricing Manager will translate operational, commercial, and financial requirements into compelling bid submissions and pricing proposals, while also delivering scenario modelling, sensitivity analysis, and strategic insights to support executive decision-making. This role partners with Business Development and Operational teams to optimize solutions and maximize profitability, and establishes best-practice pricing frameworks, tools, and governance processes. The role holder acts as the organization's pricing SME, collaborating with global stakeholders and ensuring all pricing submissions comply with internal governance and commercial policies.
Responsibilities
- Lead the development of competitive, commercially robust pricing solutions.
- Own complex financial modelling, pricing strategies, and business cases.
- Translate operational, commercial, and financial requirements into compelling bid submissions and pricing proposals.
- Deliver scenario modelling, sensitivity analysis, and strategic insights.
- Partner with Business Development and Operational teams to challenge assumptions, optimise solutions, and maximise profitability.
- Establish and continuously improve best-practice pricing frameworks, tools, and governance processes.
- Act as the organisation's pricing SME, collaborating with global stakeholders.
- Ensure all pricing submissions comply with internal governance, approval frameworks, and commercial policies.
- Respond to rate requests from sales force; prepare rates and working on pricing tenders.
- Provide analysis to support business decisions.
- Implement tariffs.
- Support profitability growth and expansion of the current business.
- Compare supplier proposals; benchmark prices and present findings and recommendations.
- Provide accurate and timely financial information to the organization.
- Monitor ongoing performance by customer and product.
- Track performance against budgets and analyze variances.
- Provide insightful financial analysis to assess impact of decisions and drive results.
- Identify opportunities to modify processes & reporting to make them more efficient.
- Provide active bid management support and lead all day-to-day bid activities for medium and complex bids.
- Liaise with Sales, Delivery Solutions, Legal and others to get the information required for each bid.
- Perform other duties assigned by the Senior Management Team.
- Participate in the annual performance appraisal process and objective setting.
- Work in accordance with all APG policies including Health and Safety, Employment, Staff, Quality and Environmental.
- Adhere to company wide information security policies.
- Treat any information relating to APG with the strictest confidentiality.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, Business, Mathematics, Engineering, or a related discipline.
- Extensive experience in commercial pricing, bid management, financial modelling, or commercial finance within a complex business environment.
- Advanced Excel skills, including complex financial modelling.
- Strong commercial acumen with the ability to balance customer requirements, competitiveness, risk, and profitability.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Proven experience developing scenario models, sensitivity analyses, and business cases.
- Exceptional communication and presentation skills.
- Strong stakeholder management skills.
- Excellent attention to detail and documentation skills.
- Highly organised, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
