About the Role

We are seeking a committed and highly skilled specialist literacy teacher to build capacity in our schools, lead evidence-based literacy practice, and provide expert support to pupils with complex literacy needs. You will deliver staff training, coordinate literacy interventions, and support schools in adapting the curriculum for pupils with dyslexia and other literacy-related needs. You will also maintain a small caseload of pupils with the most complex literacy needs.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver staff training in evidence-based literacy practices.
  • Coordinate literacy interventions and parent workshops across the borough.
  • Model high-quality teaching.
  • Support schools to select and interpret literacy assessments.
  • Advise on adapting the curriculum for pupils with dyslexia and other literacy-related needs.
  • Maintain a small caseload of pupils with the most complex literacy needs.
  • Conduct detailed assessments and produce targeted, evidence-informed recommendations for schools.

Requirements

  • Must be a committed and highly skilled specialist literacy teacher.
  • Must be an experienced practitioner.
  • Successful candidates will be asked to apply for an Enhanced/Standard/Basic Certificate from the Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS).
  • You will be required to undertake a Cifas check.
  • CV and supporting statement must clearly evidence how you meet the shortlisting criteria on the personal specification marked “A” for application.
