About the Role

The Account Management team is building the Current Account and Everyday banking experience products, owning how customers hold, organize, and move their money. The mission is to make Wise the account customers reach for every day.

Responsibilities

• Lead the team's engineers, owning their output and well-being, and supporting their growth.
• Write code, review designs and PRs, and drive features across backend, web, and mobile.
• Own the team's technical roadmap, system evolution, and architectural decisions.
• Partner with Product Management and Design, providing feedback on product strategy.
• Collaborate with adjacent teams on joint initiatives and product integrations.

Requirements

• Strong backend engineering background with the ability to guide senior engineers.
• Deep understanding of distributed systems, event-driven architectures, and microservices.
• Proven track record of owning the reliability, scalability, and correctness of critical systems.
• Experience with JVM-based languages (Java/Kotlin) and Spring Boot, or ability to learn quickly.
• Experience leading engineering teams and owning their deliverables.
• Ability to lead through trust, providing context and direction.
• Clear communication skills, capable of technical arguments and plain explanations.
• Product engineering mindset focused on customer and business impact.
• Bias for action and comfort with ambiguity, moving quickly without sacrificing quality.
