About the Role
Credera is seeking a Lead Engineer to join a fast-growing technology and engineering organization in the UK. This role involves working on diverse client projects, building modern AI-enabled data platforms using DevOps and MLOps practices, and helping clients leverage their data with exposure to regulated environments and the latest AI technologies. The position is permanent within the Data Function, based out of any UK office.
Responsibilities
- Accountable for leading multiple, complex areas of data engineering delivery to time, cost and quality with minimal direction
- Experience effectively and inclusively managing teams to deliver agreed scope, acting as the key point of escalation for decisions that impact your area of work
- Building data platforms such as Data Lakes, Lakehouses or Data Meshes that underpin analytics and AI workloads
- Partnering with and influencing senior stakeholders, building trust across the stakeholder landscape to drive the delivery of outcomes
- Anticipating the risk landscape across a project and standing up multi-functional teams of SMEs to analyse and resolve issues
- Driving innovation and market-leading practices, bringing knowledge and experience from multiple clients and industries
- Approaching problem-solving pragmatically, creating clarity and structure in ambiguous situations
- Productionising and operating data and AI/ML solutions, including Generative AI or LLM-based applications
- Coaching and mentoring engineers, putting in place structured development opportunities to build the capability of junior team members and client counterparts
Requirements
- Perceptive, personable, culturally sensitive and demonstrate a high degree of emotional intelligence
- Ability to work collaboratively in a matrix organisation
- Ability to build data platforms using either cloud native products or commercial data analytics / data warehouse software
- Demonstrable experience of building data pipelines using Spark, Python or SQL
- Experience working with AWS and its data and AI/ML services such as SageMaker
- Experience of big data and lakehouse platforms on AWS (EMR, Databricks or Snowflake)
- Understanding of Data Security, Data Governance and responsible AI principles
- A track record of anticipating the risk landscape across a project and standing up multi-functional teams of SMEs to analyse and resolve issues
- Have a drive for self-improvement and learning, including learning new programming languages
- Must hold active SC clearance
