About the Role
Lead policy work across key areas of state taxes, such as property stamp duty, land tax and emergency services levy. Provide high-quality economic and policy advice to support government decision-making, drawing on research, quantitative analysis and modelling. Act as the policy lead for specific tax measures or strategic projects, contributing to budget papers, research publications and reform proposals. Draft concise briefings for senior executives, advise on legislative changes, and support parliamentary processes. Engage regularly with stakeholders across Treasury, other NSW agencies, the Commonwealth and external bodies, building trusted and effective relationships. Manage projects, identify risks, and ensure delivery aligns with government priorities. Support and mentor junior team members, playing a key role in shaping NSW tax policy and driving sustainable revenue reforms.

Requirements
- Tertiary qualifications in economics, public policy or law or have relevant experience
- Experience in providing advice on public policy and/or delivering policy analysis underpinned by data and economic evidence
- Ability to undertake policy costings and economic and fiscal modelling
- A keen interest in and familiarity with tax policy and tax reform
- Must be a current NSW public sector employee
- Must be an Australian or New Zealand citizen or permanent resident of Australia
