About the Role

Faraday is seeking an Assistant Underwriter to support the Specialist Lines Insurance and Delegated Authority (US Casualty) team. This role will contribute to the growth and portfolio management of the account by underwriting new and renewal Casualty business, supporting clients across North America through various distribution channels.

Responsibilities

• Assist in the underwriting of the portfolio at Lloyd’s.
• Review underwriting submissions, populate rating models, and review wordings.
• Meet existing and potential clients in group presentations and 1:1 meetings.
• Manage underwriting administration to ensure business is conducted per internal requirements.
• Maintain existing and develop new broker relationships.
• Develop a full understanding of pricing models and collaborate on their improvement.
• Function independently with limited direction over time while benefiting from the team’s collaborative approach.
• Support the team in identifying, defining, and pursuing new business opportunities.
• Review, evaluate, and oversee new and renewal business and coverage requests based on company guidelines, competition, and geographic focus.
• Maintain and grow market presence through regular broker engagement.
• Solicit new accounts, gather market intelligence, and provide department information.
• Perform necessary travel for client meetings and marketing.
• Consult with the claims team to monitor loss trends.
• Work closely with the actuarial team in modelling individual accounts and binders.
• Work closely with the DUA team on new and renewal binder, lineslip opportunities, and coverholder compliance.
• Demonstrate a positive attitude and strong value system.
• Continuously improve own skills and knowledge.

Requirements

• Experience within the Casualty Insurance market is desirable.
• Progress towards ACII.
• Existing underwriting authority and broker relationships.
• Prior experience of binder, lineslip, and open market business is desirable.
• Technical expertise, especially knowledge of wordings and typical claim scenarios.
• IT Skills within the MS Suite of products, particularly Excel, are essential.
