About the Role

Cohere is seeking a People Systems and Automation Manager to redesign and automate People processes, ensuring scalability and efficiency as the company grows. This hands-on role involves building workflows, owning employee lifecycle processes, and bridging gaps between HR, IT, Finance, and Payroll.

Responsibilities

  • Design and automate People processes.
  • Map and redesign current People processes before automation.
  • Build workflows and automations across HRIS and wider tooling.
  • Design for exceptions and standard paths.
  • Own the employee lifecycle end-to-end, including joiners, movers, and leavers.
  • Remove human interaction in processes.
  • Close gaps between People, IT, Finance, and Payroll.
  • Build internal mobility processes (promotions, transfers, manager changes, entity changes).
  • Remove manual handling and human error.
  • Measure the impact of removed manual work.
  • Write user-friendly SOPs and runbooks.
  • Ensure built systems are maintainable by others.
  • Keep process documentation as a source of truth.
  • Design processes that scale with company growth and maturity.
  • Work with IT and Finance on process controls and evidence.

Requirements

  • Experience building People Ops/HR Systems at a fast-growing company.
  • Experience with HRIS implementation or migration.
  • Experience building workflows and automations in HR systems or adjacent tooling.
  • Comfort working with triggers, conditions, integrations, and failure modes.
  • Systems thinking ability, with capacity to discuss triggers, conditions, failure modes, and edge cases.
  • Understanding of what not to automate and ability to explain why.
  • Clear writing and documentation skills.
  • Experience running operations across multiple countries and entities, including EOR or contractor populations.
  • Comfort across the entire employee journey, from hire to exit.
  • Ability to quickly learn new tools and become a subject matter expert.
