About the Role

We are seeking an Engineering Lead to join the embedded finance team, focusing on building the world's best embedded finance platform for our partners. This hands-on role involves mentoring engineers, driving technical decisions, and collaborating with product management to shape the team's vision and roadmap. You will work with major enterprises like Google, Deel, Ramp, and Agoda to integrate Wise's infrastructure, transforming international payments.

Responsibilities

Designing, developing, and maintaining the team’s services.
Mentoring and supporting engineers in their growth and development.
Supporting the team in technical decisions to ensure a high-quality, reliable, and scalable product.
Owning and driving the team’s direction and product plans in collaboration with a Product Manager.
Collaborating with teams across Wise to deliver impact and expand platform functionality for partners.
Taking ownership of the team’s services and product, promoting best practices and high-quality products.

Requirements

Proven experience leading and mentoring high-performing engineering teams.
Strong hands-on experience of Java (or similar stacks).
Deep understanding of microservices and event-driven architectures.
Product mindset with a focus on customer impact.
Strong experience designing and optimizing relational databases.
Proficiency in advocating and following best coding practices, continuous delivery, and code reviews.
Ability to communicate technical concepts clearly across teams and stakeholders.
