About the Role
As Manager, Student Advising – International, you will lead the delivery and continuous improvement of culturally responsive, student-centred advising services that support international students from transition and settlement through to academic progression, engagement, retention and completion. You will play a key role in shaping a consistent, connected and proactive approach to international student support across the University.
Responsibilities
- Lead the delivery and continuous improvement of culturally responsive, student-centred advising services for international students.
- Support international students through transition, settlement, academic progression, engagement, retention, and completion.
- Shape a consistent, connected, and proactive approach to international student support.
- Drive coordinated initiatives such as Orientation, proactive communications, and targeted retention strategies.
- Build capability, foster a high-performing culture, and embed best-practice advising frameworks.
- Interpret data, monitor key performance indicators, and apply insights to inform service enhancements.
- Support compliance with ESOS and related regulatory requirements.
- Utilize strategic thinking and people leadership to shape the international student experience.
Requirements
- Postgraduate qualifications or progress towards postgraduate qualifications, with extensive relevant experience; or an equivalent combination of relevant experience and education/training.
- Extensive experience delivering student-focused services and initiatives, including student advising, operational planning, program delivery, engagement, and culturally informed support across the student lifecycle.
- Highly developed communication, consultation, negotiation, and influencing skills.
- Demonstrated ability to build effective relationships with diverse stakeholders and create inclusive environments.
- Demonstrated leadership experience managing geographically dispersed teams and fostering a culture of collaboration, inclusion, wellbeing, and high performance.
- Knowledge of the Australian higher education and international education sectors, including ESOS and CRICOS frameworks, with an understanding of the unique experience and cultural considerations for international students (Desirable).
- Appointment to this role is subject to satisfactory pre-employment checks, which may include a National Police Check and/or Working with Children Check (where applicable).

- The successful candidate may also be required to demonstrate that they meet the “fit and proper person” criteria as required under applicable legislation and regulatory frameworks (including ASQA requirements where relevant).

Salary/Compensations
- Total Remuneration $139,486 to $154,893 pa (including salary of $117,868 to $130,887 plus 17% superannuation and leave loading)
