About the Role
BAI is seeking an accomplished Head of Solutions - Rail to become the recognized technology leader for its rail business. This highly visible role combines deep telecommunications expertise, strategic industry engagement, and commercial influence to position BAI as Australia's leading rail connectivity systems integrator. You will represent BAI across the rail ecosystem, building trusted relationships and identifying, shaping, and securing large-scale rail communications and infrastructure opportunities.
Responsibilities
- Represent BAI as the technology voice within the Australian rail sector.
- Build trusted relationships with rail operators, authorities, infrastructure managers, and government stakeholders.
- Drive industry engagement across rail communications technologies including FRMCS, GSM-R, DTRS, ETCS connectivity, MCX, and private LTE/5G networks.
- Develop and strengthen strategic alliances with technology vendors, OEMs, signalling providers, and integration partners.
- Identify, shape, and qualify major rail connectivity opportunities.
- Provide technical leadership and solution expertise for strategic bids and pursuits.
- Support project teams with specialist rail communications guidance.
- Represent BAI at industry conferences, customer forums, and working groups.
- Influence strategic investment, partner selection, and opportunity pursuit decisions.
- Strengthen BAI's position as a tier-one rail connectivity systems integrator.
Requirements
- Bachelor of Engineering in Telecommunications, Electronics, or a related discipline.
- 15+ years' telecommunications industry experience, including significant wireless/mobile communications expertise.
- Strong experience within rail communications, control systems, and transport technology environments.
- Proven success in pre-sales leadership, solutioning, strategic account management, or customer-facing technical leadership roles.
- Expert knowledge of rail communication technologies including GSM-R, FRMCS, ETCS connectivity, MCX, DTRS, and private LTE/5G.
- Demonstrated ability to develop strategic partnerships and alliance relationships.
- Experience influencing executive stakeholders and leading cross-functional teams.
- Outstanding communication, negotiation, and presentation skills.
- A passion for innovation, industry engagement, and shaping long-term growth opportunities.
