About the Role
The Senior Manager, AI Software Engineering is a leadership role guiding a team in the execution and deployment of cloud-native AI architectures. This player-coach role balances strategic management with hands-on development, overseeing the full software lifecycle on AWS infrastructure and driving innovation by integrating emerging AI technologies.
Responsibilities
- Lead, mentor, and manage a team of software engineers focused on AI execution.
- Act as a player/coach with 20% hands-on responsibilities.
- Conduct performance reviews and create development plans for team members.
- Ensure effective resource allocation, team productivity, and project delivery.
- Oversee the entire software and AI development lifecycle, from requirements to deployment.
- Ensure adherence to best practices in coding, testing, and documentation.
- Integrate emerging technologies and industry trends into the development process.
- Collaborate with product managers and stakeholders to define project requirements.
- Communicate project status, issues, and risks to senior management.
- Contribute to the software engineering strategy for enterprise AI adoption.
- Identify opportunities for process improvements, automation, and innovation.
- Participate in long-term planning, including technology roadmaps and capacity planning.
- Foster collaboration between engineering teams, product management, and other departments.
- Act as a liaison between technical teams and non-technical stakeholders.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- 8+ years of experience in software development.
- At least 3 years of experience in a leadership role.
- Strong proficiency in software development methodologies.
- Proficiency in full-stack engineering.
- Proficiency in languages such as NodeJS and TypeScript.
- Proficiency in concurrency, JSON, and REST.
- Demonstrated expertise in Fullstack development in a scalable NodeJS environment.
- Demonstrated expertise in Cloud infrastructure.
- Demonstrated expertise in infrastructure as code.
- Knowledge of DevOps practices.
- Knowledge of CI/CD pipelines.
- Knowledge of automated testing.
- Excellent leadership, team-building, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to motivate and inspire a diverse team of engineers.
- Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
- Experience with agile development methodologies (e.g., Scrum, Kanban).
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities simultaneously.
