About the Role
Provide controls support to a highly automated and fast-paced baking facility, utilizing strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills with a background in industrial controls. This role requires experience with Allen Bradley PLCs, VFDs, and HMIs/OITs, alongside a solid understanding of electrical controls, mechanical drives, pneumatics, hydraulics, PCs, robotics, and control networks.
Responsibilities
- Provide expertise using Rockwell Automation software packages and others as needed.
- Review key plant metrics/KPIs and equipment data to identify potential areas for continuous improvement and lead teams to develop engineered solutions.
- Provide second-level support to the maintenance department.
- Support manufacturing Controls networks and act as a liaison between plant personnel, corporate engineering, and IT.
- Manage Rockwell Automation software on department PCs and ensure control devices have up-to-date firmware and software revisions.
- Maintain a library for all device back-ups and updates.
- Work closely with production supervisors to provide effective controls support.
- Ensure equipment is maintained, guarded, and operated in accordance with safety regulations and procedures.
- Identify potential cost savings and cost avoidance; implement continuous improvement projects.
- Participate in budget planning for the area and department.
- Visit equipment suppliers to inspect new equipment for compliance with BBU corporate electrical specifications.
- Support other BBU facilities if required, potentially involving minor travel.
- Assure General Safety and Food Safety are absolute priorities by setting an example.
- Mentor, develop, train, and validate the knowledge of controls systems with all mechanics.
Requirements
- 1-3 years of experience.
- Strong experience with Rockwell Controls Software.
- Strong overall electrical knowledge and experience with control systems.
- Excellent communication skills and effective team building skills are a must.
- Ability to read, write, and communicate in English to understand and follow work and safety instructions.
- Ability to perform basic arithmetic.
- Capable of moving up and down building stairways in a multi-level plant.
- Physical activities include climbing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, grasping, feeling, twisting, bending, talking, and hearing.
- Worker will be exposed to all hazards of machinery and equipment in an operational baking environment.
