About the Role

Contribute to the transformation of the transport sector towards a greener and more sustainable future by shaping policies and initiatives that reduce carbon emissions, promote renewable energy adoption, and enhance the overall environmental performance of the transport network.

Responsibilities

  • Provide strategic environmental and sustainability advice to support the successful delivery of complex infrastructure projects and operational initiatives.
  • Lead environmental impact assessments, compliance activities, and sustainability initiatives to achieve regulatory and organisational outcomes.
  • Identify environmental risks and opportunities, developing practical solutions to support project delivery and minimise environmental impacts.
  • Review and endorse environmental management plans, assessments, and reports, providing expert guidance on complex environmental matters.
  • Partner with project teams, contractors, regulators, and stakeholders to embed environmental best practice across the asset lifecycle.
  • Drive a culture of environmental accountability through coaching, knowledge sharing, compliance monitoring, and continuous improvement initiatives.

Requirements

  • Demonstrated experience delivering environmental and sustainability outcomes within infrastructure, transport, construction, or major project environments.
  • Strong knowledge of environmental legislation, impact assessment processes, regulatory approvals, and compliance frameworks.
  • Proven ability to identify and manage environmental risks, provide strategic advice, and resolve complex environmental issues.
  • Excellent stakeholder engagement and communication skills, with the ability to influence and collaborate across multidisciplinary teams.
  • Experience monitoring environmental performance and driving sustainable practices that support organisational and community objectives.

Education Level

  • Tertiary qualifications in Environmental Science, Environmental Management, Environmental Engineering, Planning, Sustainability, or a related discipline, or equivalent industry experience.
