About the Role

Thermo Fisher Scientific is seeking individuals to join their team in Rochester, NY, contributing to the production of essential lab plastics and Nalgene® products. This role is part of the Laboratory Products Division, supporting various scientific sectors.

Responsibilities

  • Inspection, assembly, and packing of products under the direction of the Manufacturing Supervisor.
  • Become familiar with product lines and identify visual defects.
  • Visually inspect bottles and make quality decisions.
  • Recognize and advise on out-of-spec production.
  • Perform 15-minute inspections of high-volume production.
  • Set up work areas as controlled environments with specific attire.
  • Perform housekeeping to maintain a clean production environment.
  • Maintain necessary paperwork related to production.
  • Work to established QC samples.
  • Alert Supervisor/Team Lead or Set-up personnel to emerging problems.
  • Adhere to all company and departmental work and safety rules.
  • Operate any machine or operation in the assigned department.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Minimum of 2 years of work experience in a manufacturing, operations, production, lab setting or related field preferred.
  • Experience in a cGMP environment preferred.
  • Experience working in a clean room environment preferred.
  • Must be able to read, write, and understand the English language.
  • Must be able to perform simple math such as add, subtract whole numbers.
  • Must have excellent hand/eye coordination skills.
  • Ability to lift and load pallets with weights up to 35 pounds.
  • Ability to work in a high speed, repetitive production environment.
  • Must be able to work well with others in a team environment.
  • Able to lift 40 lbs. without assistance.
  • Adherence to all Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) Safety Standards.
  • Cleanroom: no hair products, jewelry, makeup, nail polish, perfume, exposed piercings, facial hair etc... allowed.
  • Loud Noises (Equipment/Machinery).
  • Standing for full shift.
  • Rapid flashing lights.
  • Some degree of PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) required (safety glasses, gowning, gloves, lab coat, ear plugs etc.).
