About the Role
CACI is seeking a Mechanical Engineer in Rochester, NY, to design and build hardware and software solutions. This role focuses on devices that meet immediate mission needs, with size, weight, power, and packaging being critical design considerations. The engineer will join a team specializing in electronic/mechanical design, embedded software, reverse engineering, and RF communications systems.
Responsibilities
- Design packaging for ruggedized equipment with electrical and mechanical elements.
- Perform and interpret thermal simulation analyses aligned with military standard environmental requirements.
- Produce build-to drawings and data packages.
- Collaborate with suppliers to resolve specification, performance, and reliability issues.
- Realize commercial and custom-machined parts necessary to build the end product.
- Collaborate with hardware designers to jointly optimize circuit card layout with special attention to thermal performance and mitigation.
- Work collaboratively across the engineering organization to understand requirements, provide and incorporate technical feedback, and report status.
Requirements
- BS in Mechanical Engineering and a minimum of 5 years of experience or an equivalent combination of skills, education and experience.
- Proficient use of computer-aided design and analysis software, with SolidWorks preferred.
- Strong understanding of engineering fundamentals, including mechanics of materials, heat transfer, vibration, and structural dynamics.
- Experience in the design of electronics packaging and cooling.
- Familiarity with GD&T and Design for Manufacturing (DFM).
- Experience applying GD&T and DFM principles to improve product quality and manufacturability.
- Must be a US Citizen.
