About the Role
We are seeking our first Director of People Operations to establish and lead the people function at Office Hours. This role will oversee programs and infrastructure impacting the employee experience, including performance management, employee relations, benefits, policy development, and HR systems. You will also lead the talent and recruiting team, influencing both candidate attraction and internal employee development.
Responsibilities
- Design and manage performance review and promotion cycles, including calibration, manager enablement, and supporting systems and communications.
- Partner with leaders on employee development planning and performance improvement strategies.
- Act as a trusted advisor for employees and managers on workplace matters, leading investigations and coaching managers.
- Develop and maintain employee handbook and people policies, managing the review, approval, and rollout process.
- Administer benefits programs end-to-end, including evaluation, renewals, open enrollment, and new hire enrollment.
- Serve as the point of contact for employee benefits questions and report on program utilization and spend.
- Own HRIS as system administrator, including configuration, integrations, and data integrity.
- Build reporting to provide leadership visibility into headcount, attrition, and engagement metrics.
- Design onboarding and offboarding programs to ensure new hire success and smooth employment transitions.
- Implement recognition programs, rituals, and internal communications to bring company values to life.
- Administer engagement and pulse surveys, sharing insights with leadership and driving action.
- Lead and develop the Talent & Recruiting team.
- Hire and manage an office manager & employee experience role.
Requirements
- 10+ years of progressive experience in people operations and HR business partnering, including leadership of a people function.
- Experience at a company with under 150 employees, where you owned a broad scope and executed work directly.
- Proven track record of designing and running performance cycles end-to-end.
- Direct experience advising on employee relations matters with sound judgment on escalation.
- Hands-on HRIS ownership as a system administrator, including configuration and data cleanup.
- Experience leading teams, particularly talent & recruiting, with a clear philosophy on people development.
- Excellent written communication skills for policy, program design, and engaging internal communications.
