About the Role
HealthPRO Pediatrics is seeking a Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP) for their Early Intervention team in Ithaca, New York. This part-time role focuses on supporting young children and their families during critical developmental stages, offering a flexible schedule and a supportive work environment.
Responsibilities
- Providing speech and language therapy services in natural environments
- Conducting evaluations and developmental screenings
- Developing and implementing individualized treatment plans
- Supporting communication, language, feeding, and functional developmental skills
- Coaching and educating parents and caregivers
- Completing documentation and progress reports
- Collaborating with families and other Early Intervention professionals
- Provides skilled speech therapy treatment plans in accordance with physician orders and by assessing and interpreting evaluations and test results of patients.
- Adheres to state requirements for supervision of SLPAs and Clinical Fellows to provide services with the highest care standards
- Assures continuation of therapeutic plan following discharge by designing home exercise programs; instructing patients, recommending and/or providing assistive equipment/ follow up programs.
- Promptly and thoroughly documents and maintains clinical and administrative records regarding patient limitations/interventions, treatments, responses and progress to administered therapy as well as discharge summaries.
- Maintains patient records confidentially.
- Records treatment charges daily and completes documentation in accurate and timely manner.
- Complies with the applicable State Speech Therapy Practice Act, codes and regulations
- Must be able to recognize and respond appropriately to urgent/emergent situations per protocols.
- Maintains clean work area, clean treatment rooms and requests needed supplies.
- Maintains professional appearance and personal conduct at all times.
- Complies with all company policies and procedures.
- Establishes and maintains effective working relationships with co-workers and other professionals as it relates to collaboration of care for the patient.
- Keeps regular clinic hours as approved by Manager.
- Directs all patient scheduling matters through the front desk coordinator.
- Attends meetings as requested.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Graduate from an ASHA accredited Speech Therapy program
- Current State Speech Therapist license
- Certificate of Clinical Competence from ASHA when applicable
- Current CPR certification
- Must keep best interest of the client and family at the forefront of all activities
Skills
- Demonstrate knowledge of principles, techniques, materials and equipment in pediatric speech therapy.
- Ability to evaluate a patient’s speech therapy needs and communicate the patient’s needs to the legal guardian and/or appropriate parties involved in the patient’s care.
- Ability to communicate with a high degree of written and verbal communication skills
- Demonstrate strong organizational and interpersonal skills.
- Knowledge of CPT & ICD 10 coding procedures.
- Thorough knowledge of speech therapy principles and practices.
- Demonstrate working knowledge of computer programs (EMRs)
- Efficient problem-solving skills
