About the Role
This reporter will work on the Corporate Bond and Medium Term Note sections of GlobalCapital, supporting the Senior Corporate Bond Reporter in providing coverage and data on the primary bond market in Europe for investment grade companies. They will also provide coverage of the medium term note market and support GlobalCapital’s MTN Monitor data product.
Responsibilities
- Contribute GlobalCapital’s coverage of the European investment grade corporate bond market.
- Work with the Senior Corporate Bond Reporter and other senior editors to identify key industry news and provide engaging analysis.
- Gather and record timely and accurate data for the Primary Market Monitor database.
- Develop GlobalCapital’s editorial coverage of the medium term note (MTN) market and get to know key players.
- Help develop sources of deal data in the MTN market to develop the MTN Monitor product.
- Contribute to GlobalCapital’s coverage, including hard news, analysis, opinion, and features, adhering to house style and deadlines.
- Build deep relationships with key people in the corporate bond and MTN markets to enhance subject understanding and source stories.
- Act as a voice for the Corporate Bond and MTN sections, pitching story ideas and collaborating with the editorial team.
- Provide cover for other reporters to ensure consistent coverage and broaden skills.
- Represent the newspaper at industry events, including travel and moderating panel discussions.
- Contribute to GlobalCapital’s podcasts as required.
Requirements
- Demonstrable interest in and aptitude for capital markets, data, and financial journalism.
- Journalism, data work, or financial markets experience is an advantage.
- Attention to detail and impeccable standards of accuracy.
- Excellent written and spoken English.
- Comfortable working with data.
- Eagerness to build relationships with new and existing contacts, including senior executives.
- Integrity, tact, and courtesy in dealing with people.
- Ability to work independently and manage deadlines.
- Willingness to travel abroad and work outside regular hours.
- Legal eligibility to work in the UK without visa sponsorship.
