Responsibilities
- Consult with cross-functional teams to lead transportation sourcing events and competitive bidding processes.
- Develop category strategies to deliver value by achieving cost savings and improving quality and service levels.
- Collaborate across Global Logistics to identify requirements and projected demand, engaging in strategic planning.
- Partner with internal senior leadership to define clear performance metrics and supplier objectives.
- Collaborate with Supplier Risk, Inclusion, and Sustainability functions to integrate diversity and responsible procurement.
- Develop and expand carrier relationships and capabilities to improve capacity and service levels.
- Develop tender roadmap and multi-year cost improvement pipeline.
- Classify suppliers and manage supplier relationships to drive continuous improvement.
- Coordinate with Planning and Logistics to optimize network storage utilization and freight network.
- Ensure early Procurement engagement in the budgeting process.
- Drive year-over-year improvement in key category metrics.
- Lead sourcing strategies, vendor selection, contract negotiation, and supplier relationship management.
- Monitor and report on procurement and logistics KPIs.
- Focus on continuous improvement and supplier development based on periodic reviews.
- Leverage procurement e-tools, ERP systems, and analytics to support decision-making and process automation.
Requirements
- 7+ years professional work experience plus a BS/BA in Supply Chain Management, Business, Finance or related field.
- 5+ years professional work experience plus a MA/MS or MBA in a corporate environment, preferably in DEI, procurement and supplier management, or corporate strategy.
- Proven track record in logistics procurement, category management, or supply chain leadership.
- Experience with transportation, warehousing, and related categories.
- Strategic thinking, data-driven decision-making, negotiation, risk management, sustainability/ESG awareness, technology proficiency, and strong communication.
- Highly analytical and comfortable using data to identify trends and opportunities.
- Proven track record of applying procurement principles, concepts, best practices, and standards.
- In-depth knowledge of industry practices.
- Skilled negotiator who balances commercial objectives with supplier relationships.
- Extensive knowledge and experience with procurement/spend systems data and analysis.
- Experience working with and leading multiple projects and teams simultaneously across a matrixed organization.
- Meets Gilead’s leadership commitments with demonstrated experience in applying these principles.
