About the Role
The IT Manager is responsible for the smooth running of all computer systems, supervising the implementation and maintenance of the company's overall computing needs. This role delivers reliable, secure, and business-aligned technology support, balancing daily IT operations, user support, compliance, technology planning, staff leadership, and coordination with corporate IT resources.
Responsibilities
- Manage information technology and computer systems
- Design, develop, implement and coordinate systems including computer deployments, server deployments, printer setup, mobile device management, and application support
- Develop and implement IT policies and procedures
- Perform strategic IT resource planning, staying abreast of industry trends and standards
- Proactively monitor systems to reduce downtime
- Manage procurement of hardware with a focus on cost-effectiveness and quality
- Test, manage, and approve all software updates
- Leverage corporate resources to benefit the company
- Develop onboarding computer documentation
- Manage company data security, including server maintenance, backups, and user access
- Enforce compliance standards for software usage, licensing, and equipment security
- Perform system audits for access permissions
- Manage IT staff, including training, development, coaching, and performance appraisal
- Assign and schedule IT tasks, ensuring coverage
- Review and audit the IT asset database, monitoring the computer fleet and retiring obsolete hardware
Requirements
- Ability to perform each essential duty satisfactorily
- Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate in English, cooperate, and collaborate with multiple levels of customers, employees, unions, government agencies, vendors and suppliers, and other contractor organizations
- Outstanding communication and customer service skills
- Excellent organizational and time-management skills
- Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced work environment
