About the Role

Cornell University Facilities Management is seeking an Associate Project Manager to deliver capital construction projects supporting the university's teaching, research, and campus operations. This role involves managing diverse renovation, infrastructure, utility, and facilities projects, collaborating with various stakeholders to create functional and innovative campus spaces.

Responsibilities

  • Manage multiple projects simultaneously through planning, design, procurement, construction, and closeout.
  • Partner with customers and campus stakeholders to define project scope, budgets, and schedules.
  • Develop solutions that support the unique needs of faculty, researchers, administrators, and facilities teams.
  • Represent Cornell throughout the design process and facilitate decision-making among project stakeholders.
  • Coordinate consultant selection, design reviews, and compliance with university standards and building codes.
  • Monitor construction activities, site progress, schedules, quality, and safety considerations.
  • Manage RFIs, submittents, change orders, punch lists, and project turnover activities.
  • Ensure projects meet contractual obligations, budget targets, and schedule expectations.
  • Prepare project approval documentation and support projects through Cornell and regulatory approval processes.
  • Maintain accurate project records, meeting minutes, and project documentation.
  • Utilize project management technology and reporting systems throughout the project.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Architecture, Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Minimum of three years of project management experience within commercial, institutional, facilities, engineering, or construction environments.
  • Demonstrated experience managing projects through planning, design, procurement, construction, and closeout.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills and the ability to effectively prioritize multiple projects and deadlines.
  • Experience with project management software and systems.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Working knowledge of building construction practices, codes, regulations, and standards.
  • Valid driver's license and ability to travel to project sites as needed.
