About the Role
The New York Post is seeking a driven and fearless Senior Reporter for its News Features team. This role focuses on high-quality, high-impact investigations, exclusives, and deep dives into current events, aiming to drive the news and expose unexpected angles of hot topics.
Responsibilities
- Break exclusives by identifying and producing unique angles.
- Produce high-quality investigative pieces on tight timelines during breaking news.
- Comfortably handle both enterprise investigative projects and fast-breaking developments, always finding the sharpest angle and most compelling narrative.
- Pitch fresh ideas multiple times a week, staying ahead of the curve and creatively reacting to the news cycle.
- Maintain the highest standards in reporting, ensuring accuracy and adherence to journalistic ethics and legal standards, including source protection, verification, and libel/defamation.
- Perform domestic travel as required for the position.
Requirements
- 5+ years of newsroom experience with a strong focus on features writing and breaking exclusives.
- Ability to produce sparkling, thorough, and accurate copy under deadline pressure.
- Possess a tenacious attitude and a hunger to land significant exclusive stories.
- Demonstrate deep curiosity across various topics including true crime, Hollywood, tech, wealth, politics, education, national affairs, and New York-specific stories, as well as their key players.
- Exhibit a bright, clean writing voice and the nimble talent to adopt the signature Post attitude and style.
- Possess an instinctive knack for eliciting information from sources and the ability to verify their statements.
- At least five years of writing experience at a publication, including long-form features and interviews.
