About the Role
This role focuses on administering union benefit programs within the construction industry, ensuring compliance with collective bargaining agreements, and preparing accurate union reporting. The position also provides backup support for payroll processing.
Responsibilities
- Administer union benefits for multiple construction trade unions.
- Interpret and apply collective bargaining agreements (CBAs) to ensure accurate benefit eligibility and contributions.
- Prepare and submit weekly and monthly union benefit reports, including Health & Welfare, Pension, Annuity, Vacation Funds, Apprenticeship & Training, Industry Funds, and Union Dues.
- Calculate and reconcile fringe benefit contributions.
- Maintain employee union classifications, membership records, and benefit eligibility.
- Coordinate with union representatives and benefit fund administrators regarding employee enrollments, audits, and reporting requirements.
- Ensure timely remittance of all union benefit contributions.
- Reconcile union benefit invoices and resolve discrepancies.
- Maintain compliance with collective bargaining agreements and applicable labor regulations.
- Assist with union audits by preparing requested documentation and reports.
- Maintain accurate records for all union employees and benefit plans.
- Serve as the primary internal resource for union benefit questions from employees and management.
- Provide backup support for weekly payroll processing during absences or peak workloads.
- Review timecards for proper union classifications and job cost coding.
- Assist with payroll corrections and employee payroll inquiries as needed.
- Support year-end payroll activities, including reconciliations.
Requirements
- Minimum of 3 years of experience administering union benefits in the construction industry.
- Extensive knowledge of multiple collective bargaining agreements.
- Strong understanding of union fringe benefit calculations and reporting requirements.
- Experience working with multiple union benefit funds.
- Familiarity with certified payroll and prevailing wage requirements is preferred.
- Experience with construction accounting or payroll software (Vista, Foundation, Spectrum, ADP, UKG, or similar).
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to prioritize multiple deadlines while maintaining accuracy.
- Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
