About the Role
The VP, Strategy and Technology, blu. is responsible for leading day-to-day contributions across client teams, focusing on omni-audience development, measurement, and coordinating with activation teams and Advanced Analytics for campaign implementation. This role leverages Horizon’s proprietary Connected Marketing Platform to enable data-driven marketing and partners with various internal teams to ensure data is central to all initiatives. Additionally, this role will contribute to content and use cases for new business.
Responsibilities
- Understand the blu. platform, including data sources, dictionaries, taxonomy, refresh cadence, and data access methods (UI, Snowflake, APIs).
- Oversee 1P data onboarding, pixel setup, and log-level data passback with Media Technology and Data Operations teams.
- Produce new use cases and custom analyses for existing clients and new business pitches.
- Integrate client martech stacks.
- Explore and define seed audiences for audience strategy against business objectives and products using blu. and/or client 1P data.
- Outline overarching audience frameworks for each client and product.
- Assist in directing Marketing Scientists on queries for insight development and custom audiences.
- Define correct models, dictate individual model inputs, and establish business rules for queries.
- Review audience attribute similarities and differences, uncover insights, and prioritize audiences against KPIs.
- Identify use cases for attitudinal data or custom survey work.
- Align audience frameworks with measurement frameworks in partnership with Business Solutions, Activation, and Analytics teams.
- Consult on sizing seed audiences, look-alikes, and audience availability by partner in blu. to aid in budget planning.
- Ensure screen and partner allocation align with audience frameworks based on communication goals.
- Align with Business Solutions on how audience frameworks tie to messaging, landing pages, and owned experiences.
- Work with platform activation teams to recommend 2nd party and platform data based on client objectives.
- Consult on final tactical media plans to ensure alignment of budgets, channels, partners, and tactics with audience segments.
- Define suppression and retargeting strategies using 1P and pixel data.
- Serve as the point of escalation for issues related to media partner distribution and platform matching.
- Collaborate with traders and activation teams on campaign implementation and troubleshooting related to audience targeting.
- Aid in the development, setup, and implementation of custom in-platform algorithms.
- Partner with Business Solutions, Activation, Marketing Science, and Analytics on reporting insights and custom analytics to address business and media performance questions.
Requirements
- BA/BS from accredited school required
- 9+ years’ experience with data and tech including using DMPs/CDPs, Addressable TV
- Understanding of programmatic
- Proven experience in audience development
- Hands-on experience using multiple data sources for activation including 1P data
- Experience using AI and LLMs
