About the Role
Applied Materials is seeking candidates for its 30-month Supply Chain MBA Development Rotational Program. This program offers rotations in Purchasing/Sourcing, Project/Program Management, and Supplier Account Management, followed by a final placement role. Participants will develop technical and business skills for the Supply Chain organization in a blended learning environment with mentorship and networking opportunities.
Responsibilities
- Issue RFQs, analyze proposals, negotiate prices, execute orders, and ensure delivery for New Product Integration/Commercialization manufacturing requirements.
- Develop strategies to procure components at the lowest cost while considering quality, source reliability, and urgency.
- Assist with the development, alignment, and implementation of commodity strategies across Applied Business Units.
- Forecast and communicate engineering, materials, and manufacturing requirements to suppliers.
- Perform make versus buy analysis to provide input for outsourcing decisions.
- Coordinate demand signals through MRP to minimize inventory exposure.
- Coordinate product development process deliverables through matrix management of buyers, planners, and production control.
- Collaborate with the engineering team to interpret engineering requirements.
- Assist in supplier price and delivery negotiations.
- Utilize the preferred supplier selection and assessment process.
- Complete supplier risk assessments on critical and unique parts.
- Monitor supplier performance, including delivery, quality, and cost.
- Manage the materials change control process.
- Meet cost objectives and resolve quality issues.
- Generate and publish Key Process Indicators.
- Track total landed costs targets.
- Work with engineering to identify preliminary critical parts, long-lead parts, and inspection requirements.
- Assist in developing supplier and commodity road maps for engineering.
- Mediate and partner with quality and engineering teams to resolve supplier quality issues.
- Escalate issues to relevant escalation paths as needed.
- Use standard tools, dashboards, and best known methods (BKMs) to assess supplier capability, capacity, ability to support rapid prototyping and volume manufacturing, and vertical integration to aid in sustainable sourcing decisions.
Requirements
- Must be prepared to complete the full 30-month rotational program.
- Must be graduating with an MBA in Supply Chain Management coupled with a technical undergraduate degree.
- Must be in good academic standing with a preferred GPA of 3.0 or above on a 4.0 scale.
- Ability to communicate difficult concepts and negotiate with others to adopt a different point of view.
- Ability to exercise judgment based on the analysis of multiple sources of information.
- Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) technology exposure required; hands-on experience preferred.
- Proficiency in data analytics (e.g., advanced Excel, working with multiple data sets for decision making).
- Ability to interpret engineering drawing specifications/requirements to source parts aligning with sourcing strategy and supplier capabilities.
