About the Role
As a senior member of the Market Risk team, provide effective market risk oversight of the xVA desk. Develop a strong independent view of current market conditions, the market risk of the desk's positions, and xVA methodology. Maintain close contact with TDS Front Office regarding trading strategies, market conditions, risk positions, liquidity, profit and loss, and new initiatives. Collaborate with the team to provide insight and education on trading businesses. Develop market risk policy for the relevant trading business, design stress tests and scenarios. Maintain an understanding of the regulatory landscape related to risk reporting and xVA, and provide data analysis. Analyze new product requests to ensure market risks are understood and appropriate controls are established. Communicate risk issues to all levels of the Risk Management organization, other control groups, and the front office. Provide coaching and mentorship within the Market Risk team.
Responsibilities

- Maintain an understanding of the regulatory landscape related to risk reporting and xVA.
- Provide data analysis to facilitate discussion with Trading Desk.
- Analyze new product requests to ensure market risks are well understood and appropriate market risk limits and controls are established.
- Effectively communicate risk issues to all levels of the Risk Management organization, other control groups, and the front office.
- Provide coaching and mentorship within the Market Risk team.
- Bring transparency to the market risks in TDS.
- Take a leadership role in the accurate, objective assessment of all key market risks in all trading portfolios in TDS.
- Identify, understand, and control key market risks.
- Serve as a point-person and provide oversight in regards to market risk control for trading desks in the Region.
- Assist in the identification of all key market risks and determine appropriate risk metrics to assess these risks.
- Maintain a thorough understanding of all key risk and risk-related issues through continual review of risk reports/related data and dialogue with relevant parties.
- Establish dialogue with TDS trading desks in regards to current positions, key risks, views, and strategies.
- Assist in the establishment of formal market risk policies and procedures and ensure ongoing suitability to business evolution.
- Assist with local market risk regulatory issues.
- Develop a thorough understanding of business strategies and key factors contributing to profitability.
- Be involved in P&L attribution and periodic performance analysis with commentary linking the desks performance to specific trading strategies, positions, market conditions and underlying risks.
- Facilitate the design of appropriate stress tests and scenarios that will highlight key market risks, in specific business lines and in the firm as a whole, under stress situations and provide ongoing commentary on stress results.
- Provide periodic analysis and commentary of key market risks for senior management review.
- Keep abreast of new risk management techniques and industry literature.
- Demonstrate governance, control, and risk management behaviors in alignment with TD policies and practices.
- Ensure that execution of the Market Risk Control function is in line with documented procedures specific to this role or business.
Requirements
- Minimum of five years of market risk or trading experience.
- Deep capital markets knowledge with expertise in market risk and control functions covering derivatives, sales/trading/hedging strategies with a particular focus on XVA and CCR.
- Solid understanding of risk measurement concepts and methodologies including VaR, FRTB, SA-CVA, Stress Testing etc. coupled with an understanding of broader regulatory and financial concepts.
- Excellent interpersonal, team building and leadership skills.
