About the Role
Trinity Health IHA Medical Group is seeking a compassionate and motivated Medical Assistant to support providers in delivering exceptional patient care. This role involves direct patient interaction, clinical procedure assistance, care coordination, and contributing to a positive healthcare experience.
Responsibilities
- Welcome and prepare patients for appointments.
- Collect and document patient histories, vital signs, and health information.
- Assist providers with exams, procedures, testing, and specimen collection.
- Administer medications and perform diagnostic testing as directed.
- Communicate test results and provider instructions to patients.
- Provide patient and family education to support better health outcomes.
- Coordinate care and serve as a liaison between patients and providers.
- Support quality improvement initiatives and disease management programs.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Successful completion of an accredited/approved MA program and MA Externship, MA Internship, EMT program, Paramedic program, or Certified Athletic Trainer.
- If credentialed, maintain current MA Re-Certification CEUs.
- MA-Non-Credentialed I: MA eligible to attain Medical Assistant Certification is desired, or EMT with current/active license in the State of Michigan, or Paramedic following successful completion of the National Registry Paramedic Exam and/or holds a current/active license in the State of Michigan.
- MA-Credentialed I: Certification as a Medical Assistant through one of the following certifying agencies: American Association of Medical Assistants (CMA), American Medical Technologists (RMA), National Center for Competency Testing (NCMA), National Healthcareer Association (CCMA), National Association of Health Professionals (NRCMA), American Medical Certification Association (CMAC).
- Valid CPR certification.
- 0-1 year previous clinical experience or equivalent combination of education and experience preferred.
- In absence of completed MA Program/Externship/Internship, must have 2+ years’ clinical experience providing clinical support in community-based clinic and be subject to standardized testing and evaluation of clinical skills.
