About the Role
Parking and Transportation Services (PTS) provides campus access, mobility, and services through customer-focused, environmentally friendly, and economically sound policies. This role is crucial for enforcing University Parking Regulations to ensure properly permitted vehicles can access their designated parking spaces.
Responsibilities
- Receive cash, checks, or credit cards at a cashier's window or from a prepay gate or lot entrance.
- Maintain a cash drawer bank and balance it daily, preparing cash out reports.
- Provide continuous, exemplary customer service.
- Complete departmental and university forms and reports.
- Sell permits and other parking-related items to customers.
- Accept and post payments for parking-related items and services.
- Check permits to verify authorization and assist in identifying stolen or altered permits.
- Communicate with various departments across campus via two-way radio and/or phone for auto assistance, boot verification, and security purposes.
- Use common office machines and departmental software.
- Drive UT vehicles to perform various job duties.
- Work in various locations across campus, demonstrating proficiency in garage, event, and surface operations.
- Perform various parking-related tasks, including daily, weekly, monthly, and annual audits of permits and access cards.
- Compile periodic reports.
- Perform related duties as assigned.
- Provide general supervision over students and new cashiers.
- May assume duties of supervisor in their absence.
Requirements
- High school graduation or GED.
- Experience with large-scale receipt, disbursement, and recording of cash payments, or as a cashier handling cash transactions.
- Experience using a personal computer and with clerical functions.
- Experience participating as a team member, providing excellent customer service.
- Experience completing reports, maintaining database records, and maintaining files.
- Must have a professional demeanor, show attention to detail, have reliable transportation, and display punctual, dependable attendance.
- Must be authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis for any employer without sponsorship.
- Must have a class "C" operator's driver's license.
- Must provide a current three-year driving record from the current state of residence.
- If not currently a Texas resident, a Texas driver's license must be obtained within 30 days of becoming a Texas resident.
- Employees who are required to have a CDL are subject to drug and alcohol testing.
- A criminal history background check will be required for finalist(s) under consideration for this position.
- If hired, you will be required to complete the federal Employment Eligibility Verification I-9 form.
- You will be required to present acceptable and original documents to prove your identity and authorization to work in the United States no later than the third day of employment.
- Employees may be required to report violations of law under Title IX and the Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Policy and Crime Statistics Act (Clery Act).
