About the Role

The Granite Club is seeking a full-time contract Athletics Services professional to manage the Sports Desk and team operations. This role involves overseeing daily operations, providing premier Member service, and offering administrative support to Athletics and Racquets departments. The position is a fourteen-month contract with a potential for extension.

Responsibilities

  • Provide ongoing Granite Gold service to all Members, Guests, and Staff.
  • Ensure established Granite Club and Sports Desk standards are met.
  • Track Member complaints, inquiries, and relations within Athletics & Recreation and Racquets Divisions.
  • Engage in public relations and maintain contact with Club membership.
  • Collect and organize statistical data for Athletics & Recreation and Racquets Divisions reports.
  • Participate in Athletics & Recreation, Racquets, and other Club meetings.
  • Provide administrative support to Athletics & Recreation and Racquets departments.
  • Liaise with Finance regarding Member queries.
  • Assist in the Annual Athlete Recognition Dinner.
  • Coordinate the annual events calendar for Athletics & Recreation and Racquets Divisions.
  • Manage scheduling, shift changes, vacation requests, and payroll for Sports Desk Athletics Coordinators.
  • Oversee Sports Desk staff recruitment, training, and discipline.
  • Schedule and organize regular Sports Desk staff meetings.
  • Liaise with the Facilities team regarding court conditions and facility closures.
  • Maintain and communicate the Sports Desk training manual.
  • Ensure Sports Desk Athletic Coordinators perform duties to departmental standards.
  • Greet Members, answer telephones, and complete registrations and facility bookings.
  • Handle Point of Sale transactions for the Sports Desk.
  • Promote Athletics & Recreation and Racquets Social Events.
  • Register and organize participants for programs in athletic and racquets sections.
  • Inform membership about rules and regulations for athletic and racquets sections.
  • Provide information on program prerequisites and skill levels.
  • Assist Members with online booking.
  • Support the Assistant Director of Athletics with NorthStar System modules (Activities, Events, RPOS).
  • Manage Activity Setup, employee and trainer schedules, and related NorthStar configurations.
  • Manage Event Types, Events, Billings, and related NorthStar configurations.
  • Assist Finance with daily and month-end duties.
  • Troubleshoot issues related to activity areas and events for Members and Staff.
  • Assist the Athletics Manager with the preparation of the seasonal Activity & Sport Programming Guide.
  • Provide excellent Member service experience.
  • Perform other duties as required.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Recreation or equivalent education, training, and experience.
  • Minimum of two to three years of management experience in a similar role.
  • Working knowledge of Athletics and Racquets Division sections and facilities.
  • Strong and effective planning, organizational, and leadership skills.
  • Excellent Member relations and problem-solving abilities.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proven ability to work under minimal supervision and within a team environment.
  • Working proficiency in Microsoft Office.
  • Experience in event registration software and ability to learn event management software, such as NorthStar.
  • A criminal background check and vulnerable sector search are required prior to employment.
