About the Role
The Regional Voter Protection Directors will implement a program to prevent and address election administration challenges, working closely with leadership and partners. They will also recruit and support a large volunteer team in their designated region. This role is for individuals passionate about voting rights.
Responsibilities
- Organize and support in-county leaders and volunteers to monitor key components of the voting process and mitigate/resolve problems.
- Cultivate community relationships for voter education, volunteer recruitment, and vote protection.
- Maintain regular contact with regional county leaders and volunteers, providing proactive check-ins and prompt responses to inquiries.
- Facilitate trainings for volunteers on various election administration topics.
- Recruit volunteers for roles including poll watchers, program support, and election administration point people.
- Collaborate with team members to identify, gather information on, and address voting problems statewide.
Requirements
- 2+ years of professional experience.
- Experience in political campaigns, non-profit environments, legislature, or as a paralegal is beneficial.
- Ability to communicate complex information to non-legal audiences.
- Ability to engage with concepts.
- Ability to build and maintain relationships with diverse stakeholders.
- Professionalism under pressure and a responsive, productive approach to interactions.
- Public speaking and communication skills for training sessions, promoting opportunities, and running phone banks.
- Demonstrated commitment to voting rights, voter access, and electing Democrats.
- Strong understanding of racial equity and structural racism.
- Awareness of voter suppression's disproportionate impact on marginalized communities.
- Willingness to work long and irregular hours, especially approaching Election Day and during Early Vote and Election Day operations.
