About the Role
This is a highly strategic leadership role focused on building strong client relationships, protecting and growing existing business, developing a high-performing team, and identifying new opportunities within our national and major account portfolio.
Responsibilities
- Lead, coach, and develop a team of National and Major Account Managers, helping them grow their skills and achieve their goals.
- Oversee the strategy and performance of our national and major account portfolio, ensuring each account has a clear plan for retention, growth, and long-term success.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with senior client stakeholders and personally manage the company's most strategic accounts.
- Lead renewal and retention strategies, identifying risks early and developing solutions to protect and strengthen client relationships.
- Identify opportunities to expand existing partnerships through additional sites, services, and lines of business.
- Develop compelling proposals and presentations that showcase Waste Solutions Canada's managed services, sustainability, and reporting capabilities.
- Use CRM data, reporting, and account performance insights to prioritize opportunities and drive results.
- Partner closely with internal teams including Operations, Customer Care, Sustainability, Finance, and Procurement to deliver exceptional client solutions.
- Travel to meet with clients and support key business opportunities as needed.
Requirements
- 10+ years of progressive experience in account management, strategic accounts, or national/multi-site account leadership.
- Proven experience leading and developing a team, including coaching, performance management, hiring, and onboarding.
- A strong track record managing a substantial book of business with responsibility for retention, growth, and profitability.
- Experience developing and executing strategic account or portfolio plans.
- Strong experience with complex commercial negotiations, renewals, and competitive RFP/RFQ processes.
- Confidence building relationships and communicating with senior-level clients and internal stakeholders.
- Comfort operating at the executive level, both internally and with senior client leadership.
- Excellent communication, presentation, negotiation, and relationship-building skills.
- Strong business acumen with the ability to use data and insights to make sound commercial decisions.
- Highly organized, adaptable, and comfortable managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and CRM systems.
- Experience in waste, recycling, sustainability, or managed services is strongly preferred.
