About the Role

The Evening Resident Advisor (RA) provides supportive services to young people aged 18-24 in a transitional housing setting in the Bronx. This role requires flexibility to cover multiple sites and shifts, engaging with youth, maintaining the facility, and assisting with daily living activities. The RA will work as part of a multidisciplinary team to support residents' well-being and development.

Responsibilities

• Directly engages, supervises, and supports youth residing at the TIL site.
• Ensures the site and youths' rooms are clean, excellent, and safe.
• Welcomes and orients youth to site expectations, CHNY's mission, principles, and child protection policies.
• Assists youth with preparation for the next day and ensures curfew adherence.
• Commutes flexibly to various TIL sites in the Bronx and works shifts as needed.
• Conducts daily room checks to ensure safety, fire safety, and address contraband or weapon issues.
• Provides direct support and monitoring during night shifts in common areas, addressing safety and fire incidents.
• Monitors program and client activities to ensure a safe and secure environment.
• Engages with youth during morning mealtimes, facilitates cleanup, and assists with meal prep.
• Assists with activities of daily living (ADLs) including self-care, meals, hygiene, laundry, and communal living.
• Maintains site cleanliness by participating in tidying and facilitating maintenance staff work.
• Supports Case Managers with tasks like distributing appointment slips, follow-up, paperwork, and file maintenance.
• Transitions and communicates with morning staff.
• Maintains records in the ETO computer system and enters documentation timely.
• Escorts youth to other agencies and services when necessary.
• Maintains healthy, supportive relationships with youth, mindful of boundaries and respect.
• Leads or participates in recreational activities and off-site trips.
• Completes and submits incident reports by the end of the shift.

Requirements

• High School/GED with 1 year of relevant work experience required.
• Able to work in a scheduled Bronx site location for program needs.
• Experience working with at-risk youth is strongly preferred.
• Driver's license preferred.
• Comfortable driving a 7-passenger van is a plus.
• Interest in working with youth who have experienced homelessness is required.
• Strong multi-tasking skills with demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects at once required.
• Responds to supervision and coaching in a positive manner required.
• Excellent verbal, written, and problem-solving abilities required.
• Willingness and ability to move throughout the day required.
• Upbeat, creative, and fun demeanor required.
• Strong focus on child protection and resident safety required.
• Flexibility in work schedule required, including weekends, evenings, and holidays.
• Adherence to attendance and punctuality requirements is a must.
