About the Role

Reporting to the Director, Team Lead, you will play a key role in the growth of the Syndication Portfolio by supporting the team in underwriting and recommending high-quality transactions that align with Meridian Credit Union's credit policies and risk appetite. You will perform comprehensive financial analysis and due diligence on syndicated financing opportunities, delivering sound credit recommendations and insights. Working closely with Directors, you will help develop and manage client and partner relationships, contributing to portfolio growth while supporting MCU's profitability and risk management objectives. This position is a unique opportunity to broaden your financial skillset, deepen your understanding of various industries and financial structures and gain exposure to capital market deals.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in preparation of credit applications.
  • Provide analytical and due diligence support to Directors in assessing financial transactions and securing timely credit approvals.
  • Build and analyze financial models.
  • Write a lending proposal detailing both the financial and non-financial parameters important to decision making.
  • Take execution ownership to ensure credit applications are completed on time and accurately to meet the Borrower’s expectations.
  • Manage the routing account opening process for the Borrower.
  • Liaise with other MCU staff to obtain credit approval.
  • Establish personal goals and action plans to support the Business Banking Centre and Retail branch business objectives, with some community involvement required.
  • Demonstrate an ongoing willingness to assume higher degrees of accountability and responsibility, leading to assumption of a position as a Relationship Manager, Commercial Services.
  • Keep abreast of changes within diverse industry sectors and proactively identifies opportunities to improve the growth and development of the assigned portfolio by analyzing member needs, trends, and competitor offerings.

Requirements

  • Between 1 - 3 years of relevant experience.
  • Undergraduate degree has academic coursework in finance or accounting.
  • Analytical and problem-solving strength with a strong aptitude and ability to perform in-depth financial analysis.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrate organizational values through leadership and personal behaviors.
  • Strong personal commitment to professional development.
  • Good knowledge of banking system and business account operating procedures.
  • Ability to work independently with confidence and strong commitment to member service.
  • Willingness to work flexible hours, and train both on/off the job to improve general business and lending skills.
  • Demonstrates a high capacity for increasingly complex workloads.

Salary/Compensations

  • CAD $59,800.00 to $89,800.00 annually.
