About the Role
As the leader of the Housekeeping Department, you will manage the housekeeping and laundry facilities of the hotel in a safe and cost-effective manner to achieve maximum guest satisfaction and protect hotel assets. Embrace the Company Culture and Guiding Principles.
Responsibilities
- Schedule associates based on forecasted occupancy and adjust staffing for sudden changes.
- Plan, assign, and supervise daily activities of housekeeping and laundry staff.
- Assume roles of housekeeper, laundry person, or house person as needed.
- Conduct continuous inspections to assess the hotel's overall cleanliness and condition.
- Schedule and supervise rotational and special cleaning programs.
- Ensure the team has necessary tools and equipment.
- Collaborate with maintenance by generating work orders and participating in preventative maintenance.
- Manage the Lost and Found.
- Coordinate room availability with front office management.
- Maintain accurate records, logs, parts lists, and manuals.
- Monitor customer comment cards to identify and resolve problem areas.
- Monitor budget and control expenses to increase productivity.
- Maintain proper inventory levels, manage cost per room for supplies and labor, and perform monthly inventory.
- Select qualified associates, provide orientation and training, and conduct regular skills training.
- Communicate performance standards to associates.
- Develop associates to maximize potential and prepare for future opportunities through counseling and identifying development needs.
- Ensure consistent, fair, and respectful disciplinary action according to hotel guidelines.
- Create a positive work environment for all associates.
- Develop and implement strategies to achieve associate satisfaction.
Requirements
- Act as the Manager On Duty when assigned.
- Assist in other hotel areas when needed to support operations.
- Keep immediate supervisor informed of significant problems or unusual matters.
- Perform all duties efficiently and in accordance with company policies and procedures.
- Maintain a positive working relationship with all company associates.
- Utilize Management Company resources effectively through regular communication.
- Possess strong attention to detail.
- Ability to communicate verbally and in writing with guests and team members.
- Ability to work and interact with associates at all levels.
- Ability to direct and oversee multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Excellent communication, organizational, and customer service skills.
- Project a favorable image of the hotel to the public at all times.
- Must have open availability, including weekends and holidays.
