About the Role

The Support Teacher works collaboratively with classroom teachers and school staff to support student learning and provide additional instructional assistance. The Support Teacher may work with individual students, small groups, or whole classes and helps create a positive, supportive, and inclusive learning environment.

Responsibilities

• Provide instructional support to students individually, in small groups, or within the classroom.
• Assist classroom teachers with implementing lessons, activities, and instructional strategies.
• Support students in developing academic, social, and organizational skills.
• Provide additional support and reinforcement of classroom instruction based on student needs.
• Monitor student progress and communicate relevant observations with classroom teachers and appropriate school staff.
• Assist with classroom management and maintain a safe, respectful, and positive learning environment.
• Adapt or modify instructional activities as directed by the classroom teacher or appropriate school staff.
• Collaborate with teachers and support staff to meet individual student needs.
• Assist students with transitions, routines, and other school-related activities as appropriate.
• Maintain confidentiality regarding student information and follow all school policies and procedures.
• Participate in staff meetings, professional development, and other school activities as required.
• Perform other duties as assigned by administration.

Requirements

• Experience working with school-age children preferred.
• Ability to work effectively with students with diverse academic and learning needs.
• Commitment to maintaining a positive and supportive school environment.
• The position involves working directly with students in a school setting and requires the ability to move throughout the classroom/school environment and respond to student needs.
