About the Role
This position coordinates scheduling, pre-procedure communication, medical record documentation, EMR demographic data entry, requirements for payers, and Revenue Cycle. The role also involves greeting patients and managing multi-line telephone and fax communications.
Responsibilities
- Schedule and input all appointments in a timely and efficient manner.
- Ensure all pre-procedure/preoperative activities are scheduled or completed.
- Manage patient and center cancellations and additions to the schedule.
- Print patient schedules and pull patient charts daily.
- Facilitate the admission process by greeting patients and visitors, and obtaining necessary information.
- Assemble, file, and maintain patient medical and financial records confidentially and securely.
- Complete the front-end billing process, ensuring all information is entered into the computer registration module.
- Perform insurance verification and complete all required processes for prior authorizations.
- Assist with patient transportation if the patient qualifies per the Company Transportation Policy.
- Ensure appropriate signatures are included on all necessary chart and admissions data.
- Scan and file documents accurately within 24 hours of visit completion.
- Communicate changes regarding procedures and insurance to appropriate internal parties and the patient record immediately.
- Perform daily encounter checks to ensure reporting accuracy.
- Coordinate the collection, processing, maintenance, storage, retrieval, documentation, and distribution of medical records.
- Assure documentation of logs for medical record release.
- Provide information for research or study projects involving patient care and service utilization.
- Oversee incoming and outgoing office materials, including inventory, shipments, and deliveries.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- 1-2 years of related experience, preferably in a medical setting with insurance billing.
- Proficient in the use of computers and related software, such as Microsoft Office.
- Excellent communication skills – verbal and written.
- Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Ability to adapt to supporting software applications.
- Maintain a drug-free workplace.
