About the Role

The Field Specialist plays a critical role in providing essential support and services to clients and their families. This position requires a high level of technical and professional expertise to provide essential support and advocacy in ensuring the safety and well-being of children. The Field Specialist primary focus is assessing the well-being and safety of clients in their home environment. This position will report to the Field Supervisor.

Responsibilities

  • Provide culturally and linguistically appropriate address verification and safety and well-being assessment to clients.
  • Complete individualized safety assessments with clients with particular attention to culture, language, and special circumstances.
  • Apply a trauma informed approach to support families in building trust through safety, connection, and self-regulation.
  • Maintain a high standard of record-keeping according to AI and ICE’s policies and procedures utilizing the UAC Portal and internal software systems.
  • Position requires long-distance travel with limited notice.
  • Provide information, education, referrals, resources, and support as requested by clients.
  • Assess the safety and appropriateness of the placement using child welfare principles and social work best practices through interviews, and home visits.
  • Maintain confidentiality in all program areas including information regarding youth.
  • Submit case notes, assessments, and reports in a timely manner as required by ICE and Applied Intellect, using ICE’s documentation software and Applied Intellect’s internal software system used for case monitoring, maintenance, and storage.
  • Maintain a high standard of record-keeping according to Applied Intellect and Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) policies and procedures.
  • Coordinate and maintain communication with key stakeholders.
  • Participate in regular training and communication sessions utilizing Teams, Zoom or other platforms required for communicating with peers, supervisors, and headquarters staff.
  • Display professional conduct and ensure respectful interactions during any contact with children, coworkers, supervisors, ICE representatives, and other vendors or community members.
  • Satisfactory completion of Applied Intellect’s Orientation and Training.
  • Satisfactory completion of DHS/ICE-required trainings upon hire and on an annual basis.
  • Complete additional training as identified by HR or supervisor.

Requirements

  • A bachelor’s degree in social work, behavioral science, or social services with at least two years’ progressive experience in social services, case management, child welfare.
  • Experience in child welfare, child placements, family preservation and social service provision is desired.
  • Must be skilled at writing professional, thorough assessment reports.
  • Extensive knowledge of immigrant community local resources is desired.
  • Excellent organizational, verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills, and ability to prioritize duties in a fast-paced environment.
  • The position is remote, and the candidate must have an appropriate workspace to complete documentation, client phone calls, and video conferencing.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office including using Excel and Teams for maintaining regular contact with supervisors.
  • Ability to type and be computer literate. Comfortable with using a tablet/iPad, or laptop to complete daily assignments is required.
  • Candidate must demonstrate a commitment to comply with mandatory state reporting requirements for child abuse and neglect.
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license, insurance, a clean driving record and reliable transportation (if required).
  • Successful completion of DHS/ICE’s Preliminary Fitness Screening and Suitability Determination, federal background checks initiated upon employment (if required).
  • Able to work cooperatively with a multi-disciplinary team including project staff, supervisors, remote support staff, community members/organizations and ORR representatives.
  • Able to maintain a cooperative, respectful, and positive disposition always.
  • Possess or be able to obtain CPR and basic first aid certification.
  • Demonstrated support of Applied intellect’s values by exhibiting respect for others, maintaining confidential information and an appreciation of a multicultural workplace.
  • Must adhere to all state and federal laws and regulations.
  • Must follow all company and Federal Contract Requirement policies and procedures.
  • Use of manual dexterity, tactile, visual, and audio acuity.
  • Use of repetitive motion, prolonged periods of sitting and standing, and sustained visual and mental applications and demands.
  • Occasional lifting (up to 25 pounds), bending, pulling, and carrying.
  • Quantitative/mathematical ability (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, standard measurements).
