About the Role
We are seeking a diligent and technically skilled IT Support professional to join our team. This is a remote role, with both full-time and part-time positions available. The successful candidate will provide essential first-line technical support to our dedicated team of researchers and staff, ensuring our IT systems run smoothly and efficiently. This role is crucial in enabling our team to focus on their pioneering work without technological interruption. You will be the first point of contact for all IT-related queries, playing a vital part in maintaining our operational effectiveness.
Responsibilities
- Provide timely and effective first-line technical support to all staff via email, telephone, and remote-support tools.
- Diagnose and resolve hardware, software, and networking issues for both Windows and macOS systems.
- Install, configure, and maintain computer systems, software applications, and peripheral devices.
- Manage user accounts, permissions, and access rights across various platforms, including Microsoft 365.
- Assist with the IT onboarding process for new employees, ensuring they have the necessary equipment and access from day one.
- Log all incidents and service requests accurately within our IT ticketing system.
- Escalate unresolved or complex issues to senior IT personnel in a timely manner.
- Contribute to the creation and maintenance of IT support documentation and user guides.
- Ensure company security policies and procedures are followed at all times.
Requirements
- Proven experience in an IT helpdesk, technical support, or a similar role.
- Strong working knowledge of Windows and macOS operating systems.
- Proficiency in supporting the Microsoft 365 suite (including Teams, SharePoint, and Outlook).
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills with a logical approach to troubleshooting.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical users.
- A self-motivated and organised individual, capable of working independently in a remote environment.
