About the Role

The Azrieli Foundation is seeking an Editorial Content Lead/Writer to serve as the lead writer, editorial strategist, and storyteller, advancing the Foundation's charitable objectives and strategic priorities through impactful, audience-centered communications. This role translates complex issues, research, grant outcomes, and organizational impact into compelling narratives that strengthen understanding of the Foundation's work, amplify key initiatives, support thought leadership, and foster meaningful engagement.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the Foundation's lead writer, editor, and storytelling specialist.
  • Contribute to a strategic editorial calendar aligned with organizational priorities, initiatives, and campaigns.
  • Build and maintain a cross-departmental Story Bank, identifying and capturing stories from various stakeholders.
  • Translate complex ideas, grant outcomes, research findings, and impact data into engaging and accessible content for diverse audiences.
  • Produce high-quality long- and short-form content across multiple channels and formats, including impact stories, newsletter & website content, campaign materials, and video scripts.
  • Draft speeches, presentations, key messages, talking points, and correspondence for senior leaders.
  • Support the development of opinion editorials, commentary pieces, and thought leadership articles.
  • Assist with media relations through the development of media materials, backgrounders, spokesperson briefs, and key messages.
  • Maintain brand and editorial standards and content best practices.
  • Ensure consistency of voice, tone, language, and messaging across all communications.
  • Act as the Foundation's primary editor and proofreader for major communications materials.
  • Review content for clarity, accuracy, accessibility, and audience relevance.
  • Help shape and evolve the Foundation's organizational narrative and messaging framework.
  • Identify opportunities to strengthen the Foundation's profile through strategic storytelling and content development.
  • Ensure editorial content aligns with organizational priorities, mission, and values.
  • Work closely with Sr. Communications Specialist, Impact Storytelling and Recognition, to identify and develop grantee, program, and impact stories.
  • Partner with the Digital Communications Specialist to optimize content for digital platforms and support digital content strategy.
  • Collaborate with program teams, Foundation leadership, and external partners to gather content and develop stories.
  • Support communications activities related to major announcements, campaigns, events, and strategic initiatives.
  • Support video production development, including story development, scripting, and spokesperson preparation.
  • Contribute editorial expertise to multimedia projects, including podcasts and videos.
  • Support Foundation events, publications, and special initiatives as required.

Requirements

  • 7+ years of experience in editorial content development, journalism, communications, publishing, or related fields.
  • Passionate storyteller with exceptional writing and editing abilities; strong editorial judgment and attention to detail.
  • Demonstrated experience translating complex subject matter into engaging and accessible content, conducting interviews, and developing human-centered impact stories.
  • Experience supporting executive communications and thought leadership initiatives.
  • Familiarity with digital content strategies and multi-channel content distribution.
  • Experience in the nonprofit, philanthropic, research, education, healthcare, or public sectors is an asset.
  • Proficiency in French and/or Hebrew is also considered an asset.
  • This role may require flexible hours to support events and initiatives.
  • Limited travel may also be required.
