About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Lead Test Automation Engineer to lead automation testing initiatives across web, mobile, API, and backend platforms. The ideal candidate will combine deep hands-on automation expertise with leadership experience, serving as a technical lead responsible for automation framework development, test strategy, estimation, delivery oversight, and team mentoring. This role requires a technical leader who can design scalable automation solutions, resolve complex coding challenges, collaborate with cross-functional teams, and drive quality across the software development lifecycle.

Responsibilities

Lead automation testing efforts for web, mobile, API, and backend applications.
Design, develop, and enhance robust automation frameworks from scratch.
Create and maintain automated test suites using Java, Selenium WebDriver, Appium, and related technologies.
Develop and execute API test automation using tools such as REST Assured, Postman, or similar frameworks.
Perform functional, integration, regression, and end-to-end testing.
Validate application data and backend processing through SQL and database testing.
Define test strategies, testing approaches, effort estimates, and quality metrics.
Troubleshoot automation failures and provide technical guidance to team members.
Collaborate with developers, product owners, business analysts, and stakeholders to ensure quality objectives are met.
Participate in Agile ceremonies including sprint planning, backlog grooming, daily standups, and retrospectives.
Provide leadership, mentoring, and technical direction to QA and automation team members.
Generate project status reports, testing metrics, and quality dashboards for leadership and stakeholders.
Drive continuous improvement initiatives across automation processes, tools, and frameworks.

Requirements

Candidates must be authorized to work in the United States without employer sponsorship.
8+ years of experience in Quality Engineering and Test Automation.
Strong hands-on programming experience with Java.
4+ years of experience building and maintaining Selenium automation frameworks.
2+ years of experience with mobile automation using Appium.
Strong experience with API testing and automation.
Experience with REST APIs, JSON/XML validation, and backend testing.
Strong SQL and database validation skills.
Experience building automation frameworks from the ground up.
Demonstrated experience leading testing teams and automation initiatives.
Experience with test estimation, planning, reporting, and project coordination.
Strong understanding of Agile/Scrum methodologies.
Experience using JIRA or similar defect management tools.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Ability to work independently while leading cross-functional testing efforts.
Experience with Playwright.
Experience with low-code automation platforms such as Mabl.
Insurance or financial services industry experience.
Performance testing experience using JMeter, LoadRunner, or similar tools.
Accessibility testing knowledge.
Experience supporting large-scale digital transformation programs.
Experience testing across real mobile devices, emulators, and simulators.
