About the Role

As a Product Design Engineer at HP IQ, you will work at the intersection of creativity, engineering, and design to develop groundbreaking devices. You will collaborate with industrial designers, hardware engineers, and interaction designers to transform ideas into functional prototypes and production-ready designs. Your responsibilities will span 3D CAD modeling, hands-on prototyping, engineering analysis, and design validation to solve complex mechanical challenges and drive designs from concept to production. This role offers the opportunity to take ownership of meaningful engineering work, learn from a multidisciplinary team, and contribute to innovative products.

Responsibilities

  • Design mechanical parts, components, and assemblies for new consumer devices using 3D CAD (NX).
  • Create detailed 2D engineering drawings, define specifications and tolerances, and work closely with overseas vendor partners.
  • Design and run experiments, applying engineering analysis and test results to guide design decisions.
  • Evaluate materials, manufacturing processes, and design tradeoffs to develop robust and scalable solutions.
  • Work cross-functionally with hardware, software, industrial design, and other engineering teams.
  • Conceptualize, design, and build prototypes to validate ideas.
  • Participate in design reviews, clearly communicating design decisions, technical analysis, and tradeoffs.
  • Build, test, troubleshoot, and iterate prototypes to improve product performance, reliability, and user experience.
  • Work with manufacturing and vendor partners to iterate designs and support the transition from prototype to production.

Requirements

  • Recently completed Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Materials Science, Product Design Engineering, or a related technical field.
  • Experience using 3D CAD software (Siemens NX preferred) to design mechanical components and assemblies.
  • Hands-on experience building, prototyping, and testing mechanical designs.
  • Strong understanding of fundamental mechanical engineering principles.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to communicate technical concepts and present work effectively.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced, multidisciplinary product development environment.
