About the Role

Humber River Health is seeking a Dialysis Assistant to join their Nephrology Program. This role is crucial in supporting patient care within a multi-site healthcare organization known for its technological innovation and commitment to transforming healthcare.

Responsibilities

• Prepare supplies, create access bundles, and prepare patient charts.
• Set up and prime dialysis machines for treatment.
• Strip bloodlines and dialyzers from machines using BSP standards.
• Clean and disinfect dialysis machines internally and externally between treatments.
• Clean stretchers, chairs, and tables between patient treatments as required.
• Move appropriate equipment in and out of the unit based on patient requirements.
• Transport and set up dialysis equipment for acute treatments in various hospital areas.
• Transport patients as required.
• Assist patients to their station and assist nursing staff with patient transfers.
• Deliver and pick up specimens from the Lab as required.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Two years of recent experience in Dialysis required.
• Demonstrated ability to read and understand basic medical terminology, concepts of sterility, and aseptic technique.
• Demonstrated ability to assemble equipment for a specific task or function.
• Ability and willingness to learn, understand, and follow basic technical concepts related to complex electronic and hydraulic system operations.
• Ability to understand and problem-solve issues related to medical equipment and its safe use in the Hemodialysis Unit.
• Basic knowledge of infection control principles.
• Demonstrated organizational, problem-solving, and interpersonal skills.
• Physically able to perform duties requiring heavy exertion (lifting, pushing, pulling).
• Able to walk/stand for extended periods of time.
• Excellent attendance and discipline-free record required.

Salary/Compensations

• $28.097- $29.740
