About the Role

Johnson Controls is seeking a Field Support Technician to provide technical assistance, customer support, and remote programming for Fire Alarm Systems. This role involves coordinating with local offices, working with design teams, and interpreting technical documents and standards to build complete fire alarm system programs.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate and travel to local offices to assist with customer sites experiencing difficulties.
  • Provide remote support through channel Q&A.
  • Contact local offices to obtain necessary files for building Simplex Fire Alarm System Programs.
  • Collaborate with the Design Team to acquire .csv files and approved drawings for program development.
  • Read and interpret construction documents, including drawings, specifications, and contracts.
  • Interpret and apply applicable NFPA standards for fire alarm system program creation.
  • Work closely with district contracting teams to understand customer contracts, scheduling, and delivery needs.
  • Collaborate with the Remote Programming Team in a Microsoft Teams virtual environment to share standard processes.
  • Attend weekly Microsoft Teams meetings to discuss project backlogs and urgent projects.
  • Upload completed projects to SharePoint and provide links for download to local offices.
  • Be available to assist local technicians with programming-related issues during program upload.
  • Promote the team and develop working relationships with local offices.

Requirements

  • An experienced Simplex Fire Alarm System Technician/Programmer.
  • Motivated, self-starter with the ability to work from home.
  • Available to travel 50% of the time.
  • Minimum 10+ years Simplex Fire Alarm Technician/Programming Experience.
  • Proficient in MS Office, Excel, and Simplex programmers.
  • Proficient in interpreting and applying applicable NFPA standards.
  • Proficient in reading and interpreting construction documents.
