About the Role
The General Estimator position is responsible for creating and managing estimates and jobs across residential, commercial, and industrial sectors. This role involves client interaction, developing competitive estimates using Xactimate, managing projects to completion, reviewing budgets, and communicating progress. The clientele includes large loss insurance adjustors, brokers, and commercial clients, with a service territory covering a large regional area and some national clients. General Estimators also respond to regional and potential catastrophe situations.
Responsibilities
- Complete multi-sketches with multi-levels and/or roof sketches with accuracy.
- Create accurate scopes with minimal over/under estimations.
- Generate accurate floor plans and multi-level/roof sketches in Xactimate Sketch.
- Utilize working knowledge of applicable building codes.
- Develop and adhere to acceptable budgets, addressing overages promptly.
- Use the BELFOR naming convention for estimates, revised estimates, proposals, and change orders.
- Demonstrate knowledge of all local building codes.
- Maintain a construction schedule and collaborate with trades and management to ensure timely project completion.
- Identify and present solutions when additional resources are needed.
- Demonstrate proficiency in source removal, decontamination, mitigation, containment, ventilation, contents, and deodorization techniques.
- Exhibit proficiency with investigative demolition, controlled demolition, decontamination structure cleaning, and deodorization services.
- Participate in continued training with BELFOR University, including Basic Xactimate training, to prepare for Estimator Level 2 or 3 User Certification.
- Independently manage workload.
- Maintain vehicle safety and maintenance inspections, ensuring vehicles are clean and serviceable.
- Complete all accident, injury, and incident reporting forms accurately and timely.
- Apply strong analytical, quantitative, and problem-solving skills.
- Utilize excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Participate in continuing education to advance career in payroll and ensure compliance with current regulations.
- Assist in the development and improvement efforts to establish Belfor USA Group, Inc as a world-class industry leader.
- Comply with company and department policies, procedures, guidelines, and standards.
Requirements
- Expand and maintain local area clientele capable of referring losses.
- Serve as the primary contact with owners, adjusters, and consultants.
- Accurately identify, scope, and estimate unique site-specific conditions and requirements.
- Manage scope development, negotiation, and agreements with customers.
- Format estimates using BELFOR standards.
- Provide accurate estimates for all trades using line items in estimating programs.
- Coordinate after-hours emergency services, including board-ups, water damage, fire and smoke damage, and vandalism.
- Consistently identify potential site hazards such as asbestos, lead paint, and mold.
- Conduct oneself professionally and courteously at all times.
- Be proactive in conveying information and immediately responsive to requests for information.
- Demonstrate comprehensive understanding of customer service principles and practices.
- Work under time constraints to meet specific timelines.
- Exhibit attention to detail and a keen sense of safeguarding other people's property and information.
- Attend BELFOR sponsored operations and safety training courses as required.
