About the Role
Nexus Family Healing - Austin campus is looking for a resilient and compassionate Youth Care Professional to provide exceptional care to youth. Our team is dedicated to changing lives through our cornerstone values.
Responsibilities
- Engage clients, providing safe interactions, mentorship, and supervision of daily activities and behaviors.
- Monitor and coach clients on personal hygiene, grooming, and upkeep of living areas and laundry.
- Ensure clients adhere to daily schedules and program activities, including school, therapy, and appointments.
- Serve as a mentor and role model by demonstrating compassion, understanding, and respectful communication.
- Plan and participate in daily scheduling, activities, treatment planning, guidance plans, and safety protocols.
- Demonstrate acceptance and inclusivity regarding individual commonalities and differences.
- Advocate for client needs.
- Engage in therapeutic interventions within treatment parameters, maintaining healthy boundaries.
- Abide by the Empowering Restorative Engagement Model (ERE Model) and programming.
- Comply with Nexus policies on privacy and confidentiality.
- Complete all client-related documentation accurately and professionally.
Requirements
- Must be 21 years of age.
- Must have a High School Diploma or Equivalent.
- Must have a valid driver's license.
- A desire to work in the human services field and care for at-risk youth.
- Ability to build strong relationships with diverse individuals or communities and understand their unique needs and challenges.
- Open to meeting the cultural needs of individuals or communities, considering factors such as language, traditions, and values.
- Must successfully pass a MN criminal background check.
- Successfully participate and complete a two-day Handle with Care exam and training.
- Must be able to assist staff in physical interventions and restraints of clients.
- Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds unassisted and up to 100 pounds with assistance.
- Must be able to stand and walk for extended periods of time (2-4 hours).
- Must be able to twist, bend, and stretch in a manner conducive to the execution of daily activities within a residential treatment facility.
