About the Role

This position coordinates and integrates wellness activities and resources, focusing on SAMHSA's Eight Dimensions of Wellness for both residents and staff. The role promotes a holistic approach to well-being, recovery, and resilience, with a specific emphasis on fitness and nutrition.

Responsibilities

  • Plans wellness activities throughout agency programs.
  • Visits programs to assess progress and engage with residents and staff.
  • Develops evidence-based wellness curricula for programs.
  • Facilitates Wellness groups and completes case notes.
  • Integrates wellness program initiatives into agency culture and mission.
  • Ensures safety measures for activities and completes approval documents.
  • Collaborates with various staff departments to promote wellness environments.
  • Tracks attendance, participation, and performance data for wellness activities.
  • Maintains wellness schedules, records, and reports.
  • Selects and supervises wellness contractors and approves invoices.
  • Facilitates budgeting, purchasing, and operational planning for wellness initiatives.
  • Recommends and approves new program or service offerings.
  • Conducts or facilitates training sessions on wellness activities.
  • Evaluates the success of wellness activities.
  • Researches potential funding sources for wellness activities and equipment.
  • Serves on agency committees as requested.
  • Carries out additional duties essential to the responsibilities.
  • Integrates Trauma-Informed Care principles in all duties and interactions.
  • Maintains compliance with all required rules and regulations.
  • Regular attendance at work location.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Valid New York State driver's license and reliable automobile required.

Experience Level

  • At least two years working directly with individuals with alcohol/substance abuse disorders and/or individuals from other disadvantaged populations.

Education Level

  • Bachelor’s degree in Public Health, Exercise or Nutritional Science, Health Education or Promotion, or another relevant field required.
  • Certification in personal training, nutrition, wellness, or another relevant focus preferred.
